How long before we make sept 11 a national holiday like VE day , Memorial day and such. I think it only fitting giving how it affected this country and it's citizens. I do think that it was over done a little bit. Two days of endless repetition of the towers being hit and consequential collapse. Even though I live in Missouri the attack on that tuesday morning was felt by everyone. On that morning all the tv sets in Wal-mart had CNN on. Groups of employees and customers were gathered around them in shock. Some were crying and some like me were mad as hell. That night I was still watching everything I could find. My 14 year old daughter asked me before she went to bed- Dad will you have to go back in to the navy. I reassured her that they would not let me back in after being out for 25 years. To which she said if you could would you. In a heartbeat I said. And I would have. I was all for making the entire middle east a glowing night light for ever no matter how many Innocent people were killed. That feeling soon passed because that would have made us no better than  them.  The thing that I hate the most about it is all the young men and women that answered the call are coming home as the veterans with the most wounded with the most amputees . multiple amputees at that .  They are lucky that the Viet Nam veterans paved the path for PTSD that was first thought to be shell shock or some other name that belittled the actual problem as something that would just go away ,no big deal, not the cause for so many vets that hid from the world because they could not readjust to society. Right up there with agent orange that the government said was not the reason for the high cancer rates in the veterans. I hope the nation does a better job of taking care of this generation of war veterans. I can guarantee that they will be like me and get choked up when ever and for whom ever that Taps is played. That soulful call will always elicit a response. AMERICA STILL THE LAND OF THE BRAVE AND FREE                                                                               

political football

Well i watched the debate last night and heard a  lot of you did did not did so did not going on. I thought to much time was given to Romney and Perry. The others took a back seat to them i thought. Although it was entertaining i didn't hear a lot of substance. And tonight the big speech from Obama. It sounded good and all but the continued cut in the social security tax is just the wrong thing to do. If he wants more money in my paycheck cut the federal payroll tax.  Social security needs every penny it gets. FICA is 6.75% of your paycheck. Your federal tax is higher than that. I hate to see us have to go back and take lessons from the 1930's and create federal workfare that built the interstate highway system, bridges,damns, and other big projects. Or maybe not. When was the last time we had a major construction project like the Hover dam or the Panama Canal. We could definitely use major repair work on our infrastructure.  Hum maybe.

debate

Well the big republican debate is tonight. Which one of the candidates will give a direct answer to a question without an around the world trip before they get to an answer. I can't wait to see who is the most right leaning. It should be interesting to see if they put any real ideas on the table or just have a national war of words and mud slinging. I would like to see campaigns of what they stand for and not have a negative and hateful campaign cycle. And that includes the 501 ( or what ever they are called) to just be positive about the person they support.  We will see.

energy savings?

OK here's the question. Do people think they are saving energy by driving with just their parking lights on. Do they think that just because it is light enough for them to see that everyone can see you without any lights on. The color of a car makes all the difference in when another can see them in low light conditions. The law makes motorcycles have lights on all the time. Maybe cars should too. In the state of Missouri drivers are supposed to have head lights on 30 minutes before sunset and 30 minutes after dawn. It is also the law that if your wipers are on so should your head lights. Have you ever heard of anyone that got a ticket for those laws. Not me. I wonder how many accidents were caused because they didn't see each other.  Well consider this if you are one of these energy savings people.  Who knows, it could save your life or of someone you love.

is summer over

With September arrivimg we finally get a break from the heat.But i don't know if I'm satisfied with that. I have been riding my Harley to work all summer and now i have to wear a coat to go in and carry it home. Yesterday at this time it was 97 degrees. Today 74. Never happy.  You can sure tell that the republicans are in full campaign mode. There is to many agendas to try and make sense of. The only thing that they can agree on is they want the current president out. Yet i have not heard of any solutions that they have. They keep talking about the job killing agenda of the administration but i see no difference that the last president. We still have the same corporate welfare state as before.I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THEY CAN PAY NO FEDERAL TAXES AND STILL SEND ALL THEIR JOBS OVERSEAS. May be they should move over wherever, not pay taxes there and send the jobs over here. Who knows.

who can and can't have a vacation

     I just love hearing the people on the right that are out of DC for 5weeks of vacation begrudging the president his two weeks. How two faced is that? They should either shut up or get back to work themselves.     Hey i found the spell check  app.

college students return

dorms opened on the weekend. students wall to wall at wmt. the smell of the parents burning plastic was everywhere. Then there waas the fight in the parking lot. one backed into another and instead of exchanging insurance info they exchanged blows. Then the cops got there, a minor incident ended with tickets for disturbing the peace and 3rd degree assault.  Way to start the semmister and make your parents proud.  Now for some tea .  the tea party canidates are down talking the stimulas deal and how they were against the debt ceiling deal, but none of their states refused any of the money or had a better idea of what to do. They could'nt let the banks or wall street firms fail. Against regulations that could have prevented it and are still against them.  They would let it happen again. You know that corporations are now people so we don't want to do any thing to piss them off or they will use their money against you to put freindly person in their. Give us another 10 years and this will be a corporate run nation and workers will be at the mercy of the union breaking politions and we will all be working for the company store again.  Gut the EPA and other agencys and we won't be able to breath the air,drink the water, see the purple moutains majesty(won't be any moutain tops to look at). We can all live in Tymes beach or the love cannals and other toxic dumping sites that we are allowed to live in. Our personal freedoms will be at the whim of the corporate enities .   More from the Rattletrap to come later.

first day of blogging

well i just created this blog to rattle on about stuff that irritates me. like i was at a wall mart the other day and saw a young punk whip in to a handicap spot. jumped out to run in(obviously not handicaped) and i said to him,hey that is for handicapped people do you have a handicap that is not fiscal. that pissed him off big time. he got up in my face threatened me and told me how lucky i was that there were cameras on us.i just kept on goading him untill he started spitting and stammering. got him so upset he left. I didn't realize that other people were watching till he left, and i got a few attaboys. that was the most fun i've had all week. what can i do thiss week to piss someone off. gonna have to give it some thought
